Interview done by Mike MilauskasMike:Can you give me some background on how you became a fan.
Jesper (J):It all began when my dad brought the "Baby Blue" single home from a second hand market. He just loved it, but I thought it wasn't my style, and though he started to buy all the albums, I didn't pay much attention to it! But when he a few years later brought Pete's "7 Park Avenue" home from London, I also fell in love with Badfinger! Then I just started to hear the albums, I must have been about 14 years old back then!
Mike:I'd also like to know how you got started with HTML, the web, etc.
J:I started out this summer when my family got access to the internet. In the previous year I often had visited Badfinger pages on the net from our local library.I really wanted to build up some sort of homepage, but I didn't knew how.Another problem was, should I make an Oasis Page or a Badfinger Page? I choose Badfinger because I already had done many Badfinger songs with lyrics/tabs. Though I probably could get more visitors by making it an Oasis Page, I'd rather do some work for the "small" gathering of Badfinger fans I knew there were out there. I found a web place where there was a lot of help with basic HTML, and from there I've learned more and more. I'm not very good at it, but I find it more important to make some good reading for the fans!
Jesper is modest about his HTML skills, but his page is a wealth of information.
Mike: And what is it about Badfinger that so attracts you?
J: To be honest it's Pete and Tom's voices, their great songwriting, and the fantasic guitar leads done by both Joey and Pete. I don't think that Molland is the genius that many fans wants to make him. But don't get me wrong, I love songs like "Do You Mind" and "Should I Smoke!" I also think that his guitar work on songs like "Lonely You" and "King Of The Load(t)" is absolutely fantastic! But you can't change the fact that Pete was the main songwritter in Badfinger! Pete was a genius, but Tommy was perhaps only a half genius, because he didn't write as many songs as Pete, but listen to "Over You," he had a BIG talent! I also love many of Mike's songs! I've started to read the book again because of the discussions on Brando's page, and I think it's GREAT, I doubt that anyone can make a better book! But I also think it's a very sad read! If it really is true that Molland tried to stop Tommy's concerts as Badfinger though both Mike and Bob were with him I think it's a shame! Also the "Without You" (the song) award thing is a scandal!
Mike: Thanks, Jesper!
