How I Became A Badfinger Fan

How I Became A Badfinger Fan

Dear Badfinger News, Back in 1976 when I was 12 years old, I was a very big Beatles fan, collecting anything on the group that I could get my hands on. Like a lot of Badfinger fans, I learned of them though Beatles books and magazines, being led to believe that they were just a copycat group. Around this time The Magic Christian was shown on British television giving me my first opportunity of hearing Badfingers music, I fell in love with Come And Get It and rushed down to my local music shop in Derby to buy it. I couldn't believe it, no Badfinger at all. I asked at the counter if they had Come And Get It to they told me it had been deleted years ago, but they told me they had a couple of singles in the second-hand section. The singles were No Matter What and Day After Day, which was all I had to listen to for the next 20 years, until I brought their name whilst having a conversation about music with my wife one night. The very next day I searched for a "best of" C.D which I found and bought, but to my surprise I found another two and a Pete Ham C.D. I bought all of them over the next few weeks and via the Pete Ham C.D. cover got in touch with Dan Matavina. I found him to be a great source of information, very sincere and dedicated to the group, his book being one of the best rock biographies I've ever read. 1999 has been very exciting with all the new web sites and releases of Pete Ham and Badfinger C.D.s, the V.H.1 documentary and of course, BadfingerNews always keeping us up to date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks from a very grateful Badfinger fan,
Neil Fowkes.
